Process and Standards Group (PSG)

Providing detailed Governance of the evolution of Criterion Standards.

Progress this Month:

The PSG met on 10 and 11 May.

In its Focus Session the Group undertook a workshop to contribute to Market Landscape Review outcomes for Protection; and in its Plenary Session it covered the timeline for this year’s Annual Prioritisation Exercise, and gave approval for the scope of the Group Risk Quotes Standards development project to be extended to include Placement.

Standards Technical Architecture Group (STAG)

Providing technical Governance to Criterion Standards.

Progress this Month:

  • No STAG business currently in progress.

Future Milestones:

  • Criterion will continue to liaise with the STAG on the technical direction of Standards, and how the emergence and adoption of new technologies will shape their future.

Standards Activities

Letter of Authority Standards Development

Development project to develop Standards to support the Letter of Authority fulfilment process for DB, DC pensions, annuities, protection and investment products.

Progress this Month:

  • Phase 3 – Protection: Final touches to the LoA Protection Standards have been worked on and QA completed.
  • Phase 4 – LoA Request: The LoA Request Candidate Design was issued to the Working Group for review and signed-off.

Future Milestones:

  • June: LoA Protection Standards will be published to the industry at Draft A.
  • June: Work on the Technical Stages of LoA Request Standards Development will be temporarily suspended whilst resource is diverted to higher demand projects.

Occupation Codes List 2020 Update Implementation

Supporting industry adoption of the revised Occupation Codes Standard used in quotations and new business processes.

Progress this Month:

  • A meeting was held on 31 May to discuss the implementation window for product providers to make changes to support v2 & v3 of the list. A change window of Q2 to Q4 2023 was provisionally agreed by the Working Group.

Future Milestones:

  • June:  Criterion will share the proposed implementation window and arrange a further meeting to confirm the approach.

Group Risk Quotes

Standards Development project to develop Standards for Group Risk Quotes (GRQ) and Rate Review or Re-Pricing.

Progress this Month:

  • Two BRD review meetings were held to discuss the various GLA New Provider request and response data items, functional and non-functional requirements and amendments were recorded for updating the BRD.

Future Milestones:

  • June: A final draft of the updated BRD will be issued for a final review and sign-off.

BAU Change Requests

  • FCA Reference Number changes.
  • FIT Data Pattern changes.
  • Quotes New Business Protection CRs

Progress this Month:

  • Further progress made in relation to CRs of FIT Data Patterns including FCA Reference changes.
  • PSG approved finalisation of QNB Standards with FCA Ref CRs (excepting QNB Protection).
  • PSG recommended progressing with Enhanced CIC and Smoker questions CRs to Quotes New Business Protection.

Future Milestones:

June:

  • Continue with changes to FIT Data Patterns.
  • Continue finalisation process for Quotes New Business Standards that were updated with FCA Reference changes in Apr/May 2021.
  • Discuss QNB Protection CRs with the PSG.
